Earth woman, prepare to be probed!

I thought it would be pretty fun to talk about something really normal that everyone could relate on. And that is: Dating.

I would like to get your opinions on dating as well.

I don't personally date very often but of course when I do I don't usually have too much fun. I guess that's because my "dates" always seem to take the event a little too seriously. I don't know what too many girls look forward to on dates but I personally wouldn't mind not doing anything. We could just sit at home and talk, or go to a place where we can sit and talk. But personally I don't like it when you go "to the movies" or "out to dinner" those things have been done dozens of times and it's personally boring. In movies you can't talk to the person you're out on a date with and I don't like people I'm crushing on to see me eat so that's out. I understand that young people go to the movies for a date because it's easy and there are no awkward silences, plus they're probably hoping to make out in the theater. Hey I like kissing boy just as much as the next person with a sexual preference for boys would, but you can do that anywhere and you shouldn't be too embarrassed by something like that. Originally there wasn't even a concept of dating in humanity. You just picked a mate and created spawn from that, but now we don't need to have sex to have children. Anyone can grow their own fetus with the right amount of money. So where does dating come in today? People still date to ensure that they won't end up alone, but how we choose someone today to marry is very different from how we used to pick them. These day's you don't need to be married to have sex, which is something that a lot of people want in a relationship today. So why do people still get married? Again so they don't have to be alone. At the same time it's become a farce to get married when everyone plans these crazy extravagant weddings that take away some of the joy, that I assume comes with being married. The point that I'm trying to make and having issues doing so is that young people don't really think about dating too much and it's something they need to think about before they start doing it. They need to consider how much they like the person that they're "dating" and if they can like that person as much as that person likes them; if they think about this perhaps it could end bad relationships before they start. Also I don't see the point in expecting so much from a relationship right away when it's been so short a time. What do you think?

Still dating is something that everyone eventually does. What is you're perfect date? What annoys you about dating? or just give your opinion on the subject. With Valentines day next month these topics are bound to come up. Does valentines day make you sad?

:( I hope not <3

I'm a Gemini and I'm going to stay one

Oh yeah I will be writing about THAT in this blog.

First before I get to that stupid dump on my whole childhood, there is some personal news in my life that I would just like to share. I got to speak as an Alumni at a People To People Ambassador conference. Last summer I had the lucky opportunity to be able to go to China and it was a wonderful experience that led me to get interested in international relations and the quest for world peace. World peace of course in a genuine way, and not in the corny obvious teen pageant way. I got to meet new people and enjoy the company of much younger children who were able to give me an insight to the way they live, all of which I have very thankful to have experienced. So today I spoke to new people who might be interested in taking a trip with People to People and unfortunately I had to sit through their video about where they're going and it made me very sad, because once you're 18 you can't go on anymore trips and they are going to Europe and it makes me jealous. But overall I really liked talking to them and explaining how the experience caused me to make a completely different career choice. Do you guys have any situations like that? Where something really important that came out of something that you didn't think would have that big of an effect?

Anyway back to what a lot of people are talking about, the zodiac. Like the time we learned that Pluto wasn't really a planet and "my very educated mother just served us nine pizzas" suddenly means nothing and you have to change nine to nuggets for it to mean any sense. Well just like I didn't like that I don't like this either.

http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/dpp/news/new-zodiac-sign-chart-ophiuchus-jan-13-2011

that's a link if you'd like to see an article about it, but let's talk about this a little. First of all I think that adding this constellation now is pretty stupid because apparently it's been around for years. Personally the part that I don't like is that now everyone is all switched around.

NEW ZODIAC SIGN CHART

Capricorn
January 20- to February 16

Aquarius
February 16 to March 11

Pisces
March 11 to April 18.

Aries
April 18 to May 13

Taurus
May 13 to June 21.

Gemini
June 21 to July 20

Cancer
July 20 to August 10

Leo
August 10 to September 16

Virgo
September 16 to October 30

Libra
October 30 to November 23

Scorpio
November 23 to November 29

Ophiuchus
November 29 to December 17

Sagittarius
December 17 to January 20

there are a few things that annoy me about this, the main one being that it doesn't make any sense that Scorpio is only 7 days long, that's a little odd. I also don't think that anyone not born in 2011 will use this new system. People get used in their ways and anyone who's been using the new system isn't likely to switch over anytime soon. Another thing is that I've always felt that Gemini described me better and I liked my horoscope so I'm keeping it. In the end it doesn't matter that much because I never really followed those things anyway.

Just Basics

I suppose I should do like an introduction letting you know who I am and what I'm doing here. It's a little late but I figure no one has read up until now anyway so it's okay. My name is Bianca A Montes, how conceded does it sound when I use my full name? Anyway I'm in my final year of my art high school where we are taught to think freely and yet still buckle down and follow the rules given to us by our, often misguided, superiors. I know it does sound a bit like an oxymoron but try telling my principal that. I find that I'm very opinionated but over the years I've realized that you can't just blurt out your opinions without really thinking about what you're going to say. This blog is dedicated to the use of opinions, things you CAN'T talk about with others and in general things that people give me to talk about. I've always been called blunt, but really it's just honesty and I try my best not to offend people.

Of course there are always people that are going to be offended. Sometimes I'll mention charities that I support and different ideas that I have. I think of the world like a think tank. everyone has good ideas and everyone has the potential for greatness. People just need to discover their "special" thing.

Be sure to send me messages and comments about different topics or ideas you have that you'd like me to talk about. There are no dumb ideas.

Butter Side Up

Well if you read or watch the news you've heard about the Arizona shooting and are probably really annoyed with hearing about it. Yes it is sad, but of course it isn't the first time something like this has happened. We recall Columbine and the Virgina Tech shootings and the more recent school board attack that was considered to be police suicide. If you haven't heard about the school board attack, because some people haven't, basically a man of obvious mental illness broke into the school board office with a hand gun and fired at the people, he didn't hit anyone and then the police shot him because he wouldn't put the gun down. Hence police suicide.

Anyway, the Arizona shootings. The one thing that I'm going to mention again is the lack of gun control. I'm not going to talk about how sad it is, because it is sad and I don't think we need to talk about it. We talked about this in government yesterday, about how if someone is obviously mentally ill you should not allow them to buy a gun. Now the topic of gun regulation has been coming up a lot, and as much as I would like for there to be at least a thought about regulating gun usage but I'm not confident about that. Most people don't consider it a gun issue so much as a mental illness issue, but of course what can you do about that. You can't just send them all away to an island somewhere. Think about this and let me know what you think about the whole thing.

Things You Just Can't Talk About:Brief

Disclaimer: This entry is all about religion, sex, politics, race and all the other stuff that people think about but don't really know how to say in polite conversation. If this entry offends you then I'm sorry because it wasn't my intention. This entry will more than likely offend you though and if you feel that you are someone who would be offended by the following comments stop reading now, but I am still going to express my right to free speech and continue writing.

Religion
Maybe it's because people are overly sensitive. Or maybe it's because people are ignorant, that might be it. Religion is one of those things that's a little awkward to have conversations about because everyone is worried about offending everyone else. Personally I think that Islam, Judaism, and Christianity are the same religion and there is no reason for them to be fighting.

Basic Things they have in common:
1. They believe in one God
2. They believe in giving to charities
3. They believe in an afterlife or "heaven"
4. They believe that you need to do "good' works to get to "heaven"

and those are just basic things they have in common. Personally I am a Christian, and this is because of a number of personal reasons. I know that Christianity, a long with other religions, gets a pretty bad rap because of the extremists. Of course if you want to believe that ALL Christians are rednecks who carry bibles and spit on gay people then that is YOUR opinion. This still remains to be inaccurate just as it is inaccurate to say that all Islamic people want to bomb the United States. It's also lumped together with Jews being cheap and the scapegoat for all of Germany's financial problems. Of course I can't just compare people with faulty opinions to Hitler, that would of course be just as extreme but I can say that if the people who judge those people have any kind of religion, they are breaking it by judging those people. In Buddhism you would believe in Karma so wouldn't your actions to one group of people come back to get you in the end? To those people who don't have a religion, which is perfectly fine, you still have a moral code because every human does. I just don't like it when people without a religion or a belief try to say something bad about a religion they know nothing about. First do your research before you try to blame one group for something. In the end I believe that the important thing is to have your own belief and still respect other beliefs because in the end we are all human.
(this obviously isn't all religion, but it needs to be brief)

Sex
This is a topic that parents really don't talk to their young people about, which I personally find dumb. Here I will mention the whole Virgin and Virgout controversy. By the way Virgout is the new word for someone who no longer has their virginity, something that in America we had no name for. Here's the mystery about sex in the United States, we really hate it here. Or maybe hate is a bad way to describe it. Sex is so taboo and yet so fascinating because of television and other media. Parents don't tell their kids what sex feels like or how important it is for population increase. They just say don't do it. And that's the sad thing, because I think they already know saying it that their teenagers are probably going to have sex. The reason I think this is, is because teenagers know nothing about sex and they also feel, because of the media, that if they don't it's weird. Of course the word sex means more than just intercourse and that brings us to the topic of homosexuals. I feel the statement "some people are gay, get over it" pretty much says it all, but of course we have to go deeper than that. It's hard for me to be bias on this one because I just don't get the hate, so instead of bias I'm just going to call it hate. Let's take a look at those super religious extremists first, well they think that all gay people are evil and terrible and they are going to rape and corrupt our nation. Then there are those certain churches [of less than 40 people, which doesn't sound very legit] who believe that because America loves gay people, god is punishing America with 9/11, the recession, the natural disasters and it's the reason that soldiers are dying in Iraq. Wow those gays have been really busy to get all of that done. Seriously? Now I know that there are mixed feelings about the topic of "gay marriage." However I don't get it, I don't see how gay people getting married really effects the straight people in anyway and why shouldn't they be able to get married? In America we don't live in a dictatorship, and therefore the government can't tell you who you can or cannot love.

Politics
This is a topic that I've never been particularly good at, but I do understand the basics because I read and watch the news. I'll continue with gay marriage then. The real reason why it's not passed is because of the people. In a democracy the people run everything, it may not seem that way but it is because in certain situations if someone makes a rule in a state and the people don't like it they can just vote for someone else, and then the rule can disappear or just not be enforced correctly. That was a bad example I know but it does actually happen. The reason I think that people don't typically have pleasant conversation about politics is because of the parties. Democrats and Republicans seem to have forgotten that they both are working for the people in the same country. They have become enemies and they literally hate each other. It used to not be like that, for examples in the days around Kennedy's time the members of congress used to go out and play golf or something together. Republicans and Democrats, whatever it didn't matter. But now the two groups don't want to be seen together because that would be like hanging out with the "enemy." Of course this isn't right but the public will see things the way they will. Also being an independent isn't all too easy these days either because in Florida I know that the primaries are "party closed" I think it's called where in the primaries you can only vote for those people running in your party. Let me know what you think about that.

Race
This is going to be brief because this is getting longer than I wanted it to be. I feel that people are a bit too sensitive about a topic such as race. I'm no racist but I don't see why people are so obsessed with it. It's just that older people feel uncomfortable using the word "black" to describe well a black person. And the problem here is that the term we use is "African american" but there's a problem here because not every black person is from Africa. Some are Haitian or from Trinidad or maybe they're Dominican because I know a lot of really dark Dominican people so that is just as possible. There are still words that you can't say, that some black people say and while I don't understand the use of the N word at all I have to stand by the statement that "words are words, and they can never physically hurt a person" which has always been my excuse for cursing. Back to race though, it's not a problem that I find is really that big of a deal today. Yes there are places where racism does take place against black people, and now ever more recently Hispanic immigrants, not just aliens but American citizens. However it's not so primary a concern now a days. Race always brings me to those terms of acceptance that I just assume everyone has but unfortunately they don't all have the same levels of acceptance. I still have to stick to my guns, even when I say "if you realize now that a black person can't be a slave just because they look different, then why can't same sex couples marry each other? The only difference is a sexual preference."

I will leave you with that tidbit of information and there are still some things I wanted to address but of course this got a bit long so I have to stop now. Let me know what you think about these topics. Also if you have any kind of preference to what topics I write about let me know. Again I didn't mean for this to be offensive and I don't see it as offensive. Be good to each other.

The Penny Project

I wanted to tell you about my latest idea.

The penny, come on face it you hate it. No one likes the penny, and in the consumer quick society we live in we treat it like trash. In fact our streets are littered with pennies and other "small" change no one wants. We have all heard the "find a penny pick it up..." line, but what do you do after you're done? After all we all know that those pennies get lost again in your room or your car. So as a society we hate pennies, even I am guilty of the "centless" hatred of the penny.

However the penny is still currency, and it can really add up after a while [seriously go count your pennies sometime] and it seems a shame to just have all these wasted pennies lying around. So what I wanted to do was try to start a nonprofit to give those pennies to children, we do have some penny organizations already but they don't seem to do what I wanted, and this was my idea. And then I realized how much work it is to start a nonprofit. It's a government thing, you can't just do it. The government automatically doesn't trust you and basically you submit the idea and it might never get put into place and you can end up never getting approval and this bothers me so much. I looked at this thing and was like "well now I know why no one ever wants to help the world anymore."

Personally I really like UNICEF because I'd like to work for them someday, but it really annoys me that they don't make it easier to raise money. Sure they have trick or treat for UNICEF but that's only one time a year...unless I just went around trick or treating a few months late. I don't think people would trust me if I did that though. Then there's the other option where I can raise "pennies for UNICEF" and then just donate it as if it were my own money. But it's not completely legit so I still don't think people would trust me.

Gah I'm at a stand still here with this one, let me know what you think about the whole thing.
